Meet the Team

Vicky – Founder

My background is in psychology, and I have worked in a range of settings throughout my career, including the NHS, forensic services, education (universities & schools), working with both adults and young people. Much of my clinical work has focused on trauma and supporting people who have experienced difficult or overwhelming events in their lives.

Alongside my professional life, I’ve always had a strong interest in the things that help us feel connected to ourselves and to life outside of therapy. I love poetry, literature and the therapeutic value of writing. I also love music and cooking and find these important ways of expressing ourselves, slowing down and connecting with others. More recently, I’ve discovered a real love of sea swimming – something about being in the sea, whatever the weather, that reminds me to pause and simply be present.

These things are also part of how I see people. We are never just our interests, a diagnosis, a difficult experience or a set of symptoms. We all have our own stories, strengths, relationships, interests and hopes for the future.

I believe therapy should feel like a safe place to be yourself. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, and I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on the person sitting in front of me, their experiences and what they hope to change. I believe the therapeutic relationship developed within the room can be part of the catalyst for change.

That is the ethos behind Luma – providing thoughtful, compassionate and specialist psychological therapy, while helping people find their own way forward.
